Call for Peace and Cooperation Between Pakistan and Afghanistan

The Regional Insights Forum (RIF) issues a sincere and principled call for peace, cooperation, and mutual respect between Pakistan and Afghanistan. As two neighboring Muslim nations bound by centuries of shared history, faith, culture, language, and social traditions, the people of both countries possess far more that unites them than divides them. It is therefore imperative that these common values serve as the foundation for a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence, constructive dialogue, and responsible statecraft. The future prosperity and stability of both nations depend upon transforming relations from cycles of mistrust toward a partnership that benefits the people on both sides of the border.

RIF urges the responsible authorities in Islamabad and Kabul to prioritize diplomatic engagement and institutional cooperation to address pressing bilateral issues. Strengthening cross-border trade, improving economic connectivity, and responding collectively to humanitarian challenges will create opportunities for sustainable development and shared prosperity. A forward-looking approach to bilateral relations can convert geographical proximity into a strategic advantage that fosters economic growth, regional stability, and long-term peace.

At the same time, both governments must demonstrate firm and uncompromising resolve against militancy, terrorism, and the exploitation of religion for violent or political purposes. Non-state actors who seek to spread hatred, instability, and conflict have no place in societies that value peace and justice. RIF calls upon both states to adopt a policy of zero tolerance toward militant networks and terrorist safe havens, ensuring that such elements are dismantled with decisive and coordinated action.

Peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan is not merely a political necessity—it is a moral responsibility owed to the people of both nations and to the wider region. Through sincere dialogue, mutual respect, and joint commitment to stability and development, the two countries can move beyond conflictual tendencies and build a relationship that reflects their shared heritage and collective aspirations for peace, dignity, and prosperity.
