Internship Program

  • The Internship Program is offered on a rolling basis, and interested students may apply at any time throughout the year.
  • Please note that this is an unpaid internship.
  • Selected internees are required to complete the 8-week program on-site at the RIF Head Office, located in Gulberg Greens, Islamabad.
  • The internship follows a flexible schedule; however, internees are expected to commit a minimum of three (3) hours per day as part of their agreed schedule.
  • The program is conducted as a continuous initiative and is not restricted to a specific season, allowing participation during summer as well as regular academic semesters.

Candidates seeking remote participation may submit a formal request at jobs@rifpk.org; however, such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and only after the submission of the online internship application.

The Regional Insights Forum (RIF) offers a structured and competitive Internship Program designed to provide emerging scholars and young professionals with practical exposure to policy research, strategic dialogue, media production, digital communication, and institutional development.The program is designed to integrate academic learning with real-world policy engagement and institutional operations. Interns at RIF work under professional supervision and contribute meaningfully to research, publications, media initiatives, outreach activities, and organizational coordination.

Program Duration

Internship Pathway

To ensure structured engagement, interns may be assigned to one of the following tracks based on academic background and institutional needs

Policy Research Track

  • Policy briefs and analytical reports
  • Literature review and data collection
  • Strategic and regional analysis

Media & Production Track

  • Podcast and studio support
  • Video recording and editing
  • Script development and visual storytelling

Digital & Design Track

  • Graphic design for publications
  • Social media creatives
  • Website and digital content management
  • Data visualization and analytics support

Outreach & Institutional Development Track

  • Event coordination support
  • Institutional communication
  • Database and partnership assistance
  • Advocacy and engagement initiatives

Eligibility

Applications are invited from students enrolled (5th semester or above) in disciplines including but not limited to:

  • International Relations & Political Science
  • Defense & Strategic Studies
  • Peace & Conflict Studies
  • Media & Communication / Journalism
  • Film & Television / Multimedia Arts
  • Graphic Design
  • Computer Science / IT / Software Engineering / Artificial Intelligence
  • Data Science / Statistics

  • Public Policy & Development Studies

Applicants from other relevant disciplines with demonstrable skills may also apply.

Learning Outcomes

The Specialized Training Workshops will be organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of International Relations (PAIR) and will require interested participants to pay a fee for each workshop. Participants will receive a separate Certificate of Participation for each workshop.

Specialized Training Workshops

Participants who complete all workshops will be considered eligible for the position of Research Associate upon completion of their Bachelor’s degree.
  • Workshop 1: Mastering Expository Writing
  • Workshop 2: Communication & Presentation Skills
  • Workshop 3: Foundations of Research Methodology
  • Workshop 4: Crafting a Research Proposal
  • Workshop 5: Thesis Writing: From Start to Finish
  • Workshop 6: Collection of Primary Data
  • Workshop 7: Qualitative Data Analysis
  • Workshop 8: Quantitative Data Analysis
  • Workshop 9: How to Avoid Plagiarism and Paraphrase Correctly?
  • Workshop 10: Writing & Publishing a High-Quality Research Paper
Each workshop will be followed by practical orientation sessions on the subsequent days, enabling participants to apply the acquired concepts and receive real-time feedback and evaluation.

Capstone Project/Thesis Supervision

Students and researchers interested in obtaining supervisory guidance for their capstone projects or MS/PhD theses may avail expert supervision on a paid basis for the entire project. The services include complete step-by-step guidance, review, documentation, evaluation, and defence preparation. The final project will be published, with the publication fee included in the overall package. Performance-Based Pathway

Outstanding interns who have completed the Specialized Training Workshops listed above will be considered for future engagement with RIF. Upon completion of their Bachelor’s degree, eligible candidates may apply for the position of Research Associate, subject to institutional requirements and merit-based evaluation.
